High protection ( SPF50+), 6 July 2015

This is a very good sun block, it is designed for people who need to keep their skin away from the sun’s harmful rays to prevent problems or stop further problems occurring.

I have found it pleasant to use, no nasty sticky feeling or strong scent and best of all excellent instructions are provided regarding how much you need to use and how to keep yourself safe.

As another reviewer has pointed out it does not have the traditional SPF information on the bottle that we are all used to seeing, this is because of a change in the EU labelling regulations, which has been done to simplify and clarify things(!) What we are told is that this is “very high UV protection”, according to the BAD (British association of dermatologists) website this means factor 50+.

They have a very good website where I found this-

The instructions for using this lotion are explained very clearly and include the recommended number of pumps of the dispenser for each area of the body. The lotion is aimed primarily at people who have had organ transplants - and are therefore deemed to be more prone to non-melanoma skin cancer. I’m fortunate in not having an immune-suppressed condition, but I think I would still benefit from using this lotion. It has an SPF of 50+ (very high protection) and moisturises - ideal for me as I have very fair skin, burn easily and have an allergy to too much exposure to sunshine. I’ve suffered from severe prickly heat for most of my life – I’m not just talking about a patch of itchy spots - and have been told by specialists that there is no solution, other than to stay in the shade. I was curious to see if this lotion could be of some benefit to me.

The Actinica lotion is applied by using the pump dispenser and has the consistency of a smooth cream that...

Actinica Lotion, 2 July 2015

This lotion is promoted as being for the prevention of certain forms of non-melanoma skin cancer in at-risk patients and comes with specific instructions about how much of the lotion to use on various parts of the skin – face, etc. A quick glimpse of their website suggests that their website and products are no substitute for medical advice from a doctor or dermatologist, but I was interested in what this lotion offers for those at-risk, who may be considering trying this out.

Actinia lotion is Swiss-made by Galerma Spring and, in clinical studies, has shown effectiveness in the prevention of actinic keratosis lesions and no new invasive squamous cell carcinomas within two years of using the lotion. Obviously, should you be in one of the high risk categories, it is still worth speaking to a qualified specialist before using this, but it is reassuring to know that this has been tested and you can check the website for further details. The lotion has UV protection and...
