Arko Shaving Cream Soap Stick (3 pieces) is available in Soaps

Arko Barber's Shaving Cream Soap sticks are the king of the inexpensive soaps. To use this stuff properly, thoroughly wet your face and rub the stick with a bit of pressure on the stubble until you can see a layer forming (you shouldn't use the stick to build lather). Then, take a wet brush and build the lather on your face. There's no need for a mug. Just keep in mind that this stuff requires a bit of water to get going properly. It has the most slippery, effective lather is one that is wet almost to the point of being runny. The scent is a classic barbershop note. This soap moisturizes well, lathers well, and provides enough lubrication that you can use it with any of your razors. It does require some fine-tuning as far as figuring out how much water to use when lathering. But it's fantastic stuff -- especially given its price -- once you make it work the way you want.

Phenomenal lather, 23 Oct. 2013
I know, it doesn't look anything like the stylish and expensive brands and to tell the truth there are better smelling ones in the competition. And there are several other options in the same price range. But after having tried several brands (some were 5-6 times more expensive than Arko), I can say that this soap is the best. You can rub it to your face or to your brush, it will produce a thick and effective lather quickly. Yes, it is a bit messy (like other soaps) and the smell may not be for everyone but i think the priority is to have a good lather such that the razor glides on your face easily. Some creams require relatively longer lather preparations and even though you will get a thick creamy lather, the razor may not glide as it does on Arko lather. Try once if you are into wet shaving. Warmly recommended.

so deliciously retro, 29 Jun. 2013
I bought this product on a whim as the packaging is so appealing. I am so glad I did.I don't recommended the directions for use on the Amazon site - I found it produced thin and watery lather.I took an Ikea stainless steel bowl that fits in the palm of my hand and crammed the soap in it.Used with a bowl and badger brush, this soap consistantly produces massive amounts of creamy lather which doesn't dry my skin or leave a scum on the water in the sink. Each stick is lasting five months. It's not quite the cheapest shaving soap but it's very close. The only issue I could see would be the scent other reviewers have remarked upon - but it doesn't last beyond a week or so.At this price you could try it and if you find the scent too much then the unopened/unused packets will sit on your bathroom shelf giving a manly 50s barber shop feel to the place.Recommended - five stars.
