This was purchased as an expensive treat after a particularly dreadful week at work. However, it's rapidly become one of my favourite hair accessories which I wear almost constantly. What's really lovely is that people often notice it and comment on it (even on days when my hair is otherwise in need of a bit of TLC).

I have very long hair, which is lovely and all but there are times (housework, in the office etc) I just want to completely tie up. This opens wide enough to grip my hair securely when it's been twisted into a rope and doubled. Each side is a piece of cast metal with adornments well attached, meaning the teeth don't bend and I'm not worried about them snapping off (as with plastic grips), and it has a really good, wide opening action. The edges of the teeth are clean and smooth, with no rough edges.

I bought the multicolour one on here and it's really pretty. It's well made, and the stones are fixed solidly into the setting. Tinier stones festoon the setting and add a bit of sparkle without looking cheap or blingy. But it still manages to look discreet.The grips extend the claws out to almost horizontal, so this claw will grab a lot of hair and hold it firmly.This claw is a bit heavier than I was expecting, but it doesn't slip on my fine hair at all and holds my 'do' up really securely all day.At just over 3" long, there are five claws on each side which clamp together well. The butterfly 'wings' at the top are smallish and lie open, so don't stick out when the barrette is being worn. The spring is a good strong one.I like these so much better than any of the other claw holders I've owned. I'm definitely going to get some more of these.
