If Carlsberg made Beard Balm!, 24 July 2015

First of all I would like to say that I was offered this beard balm by the manufacturer. All that they asked was that I gave them an honest opinion of the product – be it good or bad. I accepted their offer and gave the beard balm to my brother who recently started to “grow” his beard. It came at a great time as Mum had started to ask him to shave it off because of how bad it looked.

Before he started using the balm his beard was really bristly and scratchy and he confessed to me he was considering shaving it off as it was very itchy and he noticed that he was getting very dry skin both within the beard and at the edges of the beard. The beard was so bristly that he found it uncomfortable to trim and shape – hence the untamed, wild man look that Mum hated.

He tried the balm for the first time after showering and said that he immediately noticed a difference in the condition of the hair and after a few hours said his beard didn't feel...

Like many men today I have grown a beard.

I start by stopping shaving and hope the old whiskers grown quickly enough to prevent me from looking like Colin the caveman or at the very worse Albert Steptoe.

After a while I have shaped and styled the old facial covering.

BUT there comes a time when you have a beard you get a nagging ache and itch under the skin that will not go away.

You also get the feeling that your bristles are stiff and coarse and any touch goes right to the root of your hair exasperating the above.

The skin under your beard feels dry and itchy.

To your horror Dandruff can form.

Then there is the old smell of your beard- the unwashed aroma.

You had, in the past, two options

1. Grin and bare it

or

2, Shave the beard off and start again.

This is a stunning new product, for me at least. in that it targets all those 'symptoms'.

Softens the beard and soothes the skin!, 16 July 2015

I received this item free of charge in return for an honest review.

I thought my husband would be keen to give it a go because having never used anything on his beard at all, the kids recently bought him a beard grooming oil for Father's Day which he liked initially but found a little messy to use and hasn't picked up in over two weeks.

This balm comes in in a little tin like the tins of shoe polish you used to get years ago and has a waxy consistency like a firm lip balm.

He likes the fact that there's no mess dripping through his fingers and he can just swipe some onto his fingers and then smooth it straight onto his beard, no mess, no dripping.

The scent is a mixture of sandalwood and a strangely musky citrus. He loved it.

I wasn't too sure at first, but after a few days I've got used to it, and I'm starting to like it. Either way, it's not overpowering.

The main thing he likes, is that his skin is less scratchy and he is getting less beard...
