[Reviewed by Mrs O] As a long term user of epilators, I was looking forward to trying the latest new and improved Braun model, especially with the addition of the exfoliation head and the Braun Silk Epil 9 SkinSpa Wet & Dry Cordless Epilator & Exfoliation system does not disappoint. The main unit itself on which all the accessories attach, feels similar to other models, with an ergonomic design and simple to use controls, which provide variable speeds (depending on how brave or experienced you are!). The light provided is excellent, allowing use of the epilator in low light conditions, providing sufficient light to identify hairs which need attention, or that may have escaped epilation on the first pass.
The epilator itself is quite intuitive and easy to use with the pictorial instructions easy to follow (I'm not a fan of pictorial instructions generally as they're usually a bit vague, but these seem to do the job well). Written instructions are also provided and...

I have used Braun Silk Epil 7s for years and years and this is a superior model - the Silk Epil 9 and like most recently released Silk Epil models, it comes with an array of useful attachments and the amazing tweezers in any of these models pluck out even the shortest hairs. The main differences with this model are a) the width of the head, allowing you to epilate faster and as you can cover larger areas, you reduce the amount of time that you need to experience the pain as well as saving you time and b) this model includes an exfoliation brush, which helps to reduce the likelihood of ingrowing hairs, which can be an issue with regular epilation. This brush uses sonic technology, which exfoliates x4 more effectively than manual treatment.

I've been using the Silk Epil range of epilators for the last 6 years or more, having long ago deciding that these were the best so what's the deal with this '9' Series? ( incidentally, either I missed it, or there was no series '8')
Same familiar design that fits comfortably in the hand and is easy to grip. Charges up quickly in under an hour and gives about 45 mins use. (Needs a 3-pin plug adaptor, not provided) Can be used in the shower- a convenient option though I don't find that this gives a better or worse result. Excellent focussed light which makes it easier to see the smallest hairs.
The tweasers section is wider than before, and they have been re-designed to grab and remove more hairs and it take a noticeably shorter time to do my legs, and the brilliant new massage function genuinely makes it more comfortable to use. I've been using these for so long, that I'm used to the sensation of epilating generally, and providing the hair isn't too long, with regular use it...
