Having started shaving over 20 years ago, I had always used rotary electric shavers made by another well know manufacturer, up until a couple of years ago when I was asked to try a Braun series 3 shaver and loved it. Now Braun have released the new 9 and I was lucky enough to receive a free one to try.
They have really surpassed themselves with the new series 9, the moving head allows you to get a really close shave without irritation or discomfort, but you can also lock it in position for those difficult areas (for me the base of my neck and my chin).
If you haven't tried an electric shaver or have only used a rotary, I would strongly suggest giving the Series 9 a go.
As a bonus on top of an excellent product, you also get a cleaning station, this removes all the hair trimmings and lubricates and sterilises the head before your next use. With the series 9, the station analyses the state of the head before cleaning and then select from 1 of 3 cleaning...

Having received the product free from Braun, my first impressions of the Braun Series 9 9240s electric shaver were positive. The item is packaged well and comes with a travel case, charger and cleaning brush. Instructions are easy to read and diagrams are clear. Its easy to set up straight from the box and just requires a 1 hour charge before it can be used. The shaver itself is light with an ergonomic design which makes it comfortable to hold and won't slip when wet. Having only really wet shaved over the last 15 years, I was looking forward to my first dry shave. Unfortunately I found it rather uncomfortable as it seemed to be pulling on a lot of the hairs, and missing some around the neck area. The head moves easily along the contours of the face and there is the ability to lock it in place in order to shave the harder to reach areas, but I still found that hairs were being missed. I eventually went back to my trusty Mach 3 razor to shave some areas that the Braun kept missing...

The braun series 9 is a beautiful machine. Space age looking, and very easy on the skin. It looks amazing on the bathroom shelf with the black and blue design and a bit of chrome highlights.
I've not been much into electric razors because of the classic razor burn issues and the feeling of a hedge trimmer on the skin. So after getting this free trial I was hoping technology may have improved.
This razor is a vast improvement to anything I've used before. I tried the wet shave option first, with shave gel, and it really glides like a straight razor. Enjoyable with no struggling. Pretty nice option.
However, the wet shave seemed to be almost too easy, and so some spots were missed (in terms of closeness only). Although I think this could be put more down to lack of regular use.
My next shave was dry, but still extremely comfortable. Maybe even better to know how you're getting on with closeness. And it did seem to suit the dry shave. No burn...
