Better shave, 8 May 2017

This replaced a Series 7 790cc which I bought eight years and one month ago. Opening the box, I was slightly disappointed to find that the power lead was a straight cord and not a curly-wurly. I have kept the curly-wurly to use with my new shaver. I salvaged the Clean and Renew refill from the old cleaner, I also salvaged the foil and cassette cartridge as it was only five months old. When I finally switched on after a full battery charge, I found it made less than half the noise of the 790cc. That's bonus in this house because my son works some ungodly shifts. I down't wake him up if he's sleeping late. The shave was quicker and smoother. The wet shave was closer than I expected. I may use this option frequently. There is a double benefit here, a close, refreshing shave with no chance of a nick. Maybe I should have upgraded sooner. For the technically minded, I whipped up and applied the gel with a pure badger hair shaving brush.

Bought one for my husband and he reckons its the best electric shaver he has ever had so for our son's birthday we decided to get him one. He has sensitive skin and this has proved as big a hit with him. Both men have found it gives a good close shave.

Braun Series 7 7898cc Men's Electric Foil Shaver with Clean & Charge Station, 27 July 2017

I have used a Braun 8585 Activator shaver, with a clean and charge station, for at least 12 years (cannot recall now exactly when I purchased it ...) so I was looking to replace it with something similar. The Braun Series 9 shavers seemed just too posh and expensive for my needs so, based on features and cost, I settled for the Braun 7898 (Series 7) shaver, which also has a clean and charge station. It may seem odd, but the 8585, despite it's model number, is an older shaver model than the 7898. Fortunately, all the Braun shavers that have a clean and charge station use the same cleaning/lubricating refill cartridge, so the 4 cartridges I have remaining from my 8585 won't go to waste (the 7898 comes complete with a new cleaning/lubricating refill cartridge anyway!).

The 7898 shaver is a comfortable size and weight in the hand, being slightly slimmer than my older 8585. It also has 5 varying levels of shaving "power", a feature which may prove useful, depending...
