good shaver good price but beware of parts con, 23 July 2009
The electric shaver itself seems to be very good, however one should not be fooled with the price of this product.. after some research the foil which in time will need to be replaced & to buy for this shaver is a complete rip-off... costing the few pounds more than this shaver itself! Therefore the company knowing full well that each time the foil needs to be replaced customer will opt and buy a new shaver..Braun should justify why they charge so much for the parts more than the product itself, therefore only two stars are given, even though the shaver itself gives a good shave.

There are better shavers out there, 1 Jun. 2012

This shaver lacks power. As a consequence this shaver doesn't always succeed in cutting hairs. Sometimes the hairs snag and get pulled, which is painful. Other than that, it isn't too bad. It doesn't irritate my skin and eventually leaves a smooth shave. It is quieter than shavers that were available in the past. The ergonomic design makes it easy to hold. Like most men's foil shavers, it will only cut the shortest of hairs. If you have a long beard, you will have to use the extendable trimmer or another shaver/razor to remove the long hairs. The extendable trimmer feels a bit strange to use.

I own both the Braun 130 and the Remington equivalent, the MS2050. Both shavers give a good shave, but the MS2050 is quicker. The Remington shaver has a stronger motor and eats hairs, but is noisier as a consequence. The Remington MS2050's RRP is also £15 cheaper than the Braun 130. The Braun 130 RRP being £40 while the Remington MS2050 RRP is £25.

Good, but could be better, 22 Mar. 2012
I have been a great fan of Braun shavers in the past and when I began looking for a replacement I had two considerations in mind. Firstly I wanted a single foil design as I find that they cut my beard more efficiently than the multi-cutter models. Secondly I wanted it work solely from the mains as in my experience the models that have mains/rechargeable capability have a performance that tapers off (even when used from the mains) as battery life declines. This model is one of the cheapest in the Braun range (I bought it online at Asda for £20 - March 2012), and cuts well but has a couple of annoying flaws. The foil has a tendency to fail off unless one shaves slowly with great care, and the power lead seems to fall out easily. These are silly design mistakes on Braun's part, I would gladly pay more to own a single foil razor that was a little more robust but it would seem that this is the end of the market that this foil design has been consigned too, sadly.
