A very pleasant, fast and smooth shave from Braun, 22 Aug. 2009

I should start by saying that I've never owned what I would call an expensive electric shaver until now. I've always tended to use those inexpensive small portable travel shavers, which have been OK but need to be replaced yearly. I will compare this Braun Shaver against those.

So naturally it is a big step up in quality all round. Looks great, is comfortable to hold. It comes with a dock you can stand it in and the cable plugs into a bathroom plug socket. Two Pin. It needs to be charged for about 4 hours straight out of the box. Future recharges should only take an hour and there is a 5 minute quick charge option.

Now onto the shave. I can honestly say it was probably the most comfortable and fastest shave I've ever had. So smooth I couldn't feel any discomfort or burning at all, which you sometimes get with brand new shavers. I also used the clipper on my sideburns and that was equally a breeze to use. Decent - but it's only good for daily shavers, really, despite the blurb about `after the weekend'!, 26 Oct. 2009

Probably the reason that I'm not as impressed with this shaver as I might be is that I tend to only shave every few days, allowing some stubble to develop. I must admit that when I read in the blurb about this razor that it could manage different lengths of hair ("after the weekend"), I was quite excited. It turns out it means different lengths less than 1mm. At 2mm it's quite painful and at longer it's impossible!However, otherwise I have no complaints. It provides a close shave with little or no irritation (as long as you're almost clean shaven already!). Ergonomically and aesthetically it's great, the charger is great, and the fact that you can wash it with water is a real bonus - instead of worrying you will electrocute yourself or knacker it if you get a bit of water!So overall I'd say this is a nice shaver, and worth the money if you don't allow your beard to grow very much, but as with most electric shavers, it's pretty useless if you don't shave daily.

A big step... backwards, 11 April 2011

I bought this razor as a replacement for a Braun I have had for the last 9 years; an equivalent to what is now a 'Series 7000' model (flex integral) which gave up the ghost recently. I have used Braun electric razors for at least 25 years and I thought I'd use it for a month or two of honest use before writing this review to be fair.

Plus Points: The razor feels good to hold and has a sensible grip and is lighter than the model it replaces. It is also much quieter in operation.

Negative points: Doesn't shave as closely as the model it replaces and its virtually impossible to clean without using soap and water due to its over-complicated all-in-1 sealed head foil mechanism. The foil blades are now permanently covered by the foil so that you can't use the supplied brush to brush out the hair remnants from between them.
