Excellent shave, but beware of the fragile foil head unit, 11 Mar. 2009

I have used Braun shavers for longer than I care to remember, and this model is by far the best. It gives a closer shave than previous models and benefits from what we are told is "Gillette" blade technology. For this reason alone I would highly recommend this shaver.

The cleaning system is excellent and functions well. Check the prices for the cleaning fluid units and perhaps do not select a UK supplier, where the prices are some 20% higher than in mainland Europe.

My one gripe is with the construction of the foil head. After less than one month's use, the central black protective strip which covers the rather vicious teeth between the two stainless-steel foil shaver heads, came adrift and could not be put back in place. This cover when missing makes the shaver unuseable, perhaps even very dangerous. The cost of a new unit (albeit with a new blade unit included) is some 22 Euros from Amazon.de. My complaint to Amazon.co.uk has not met with a reply, but I expect...

Effortless performance, 2 Jan. 2010

I'm mightily impressed with this shaver, having just a 590CC to replace an older Braun 5-series. It gives a very clean finish (including around the neck area), requiring less effort and causing arguably less irritation than its predecessor. I was a little surprised at how large the cleaning/charging pod is, but the benfit of the cleaning function outweighs this minor concern - it really is like using a new shaver each time it's been through the cleaning cycle. The semi-rigid neoprene case is also a significant step up from the rigid ABS cases that other Braun models still feature, in terms of durability.All in all, I think it's a cracking bit of kit.

Excellent shaver and the cleaning system is the icing, 15 Nov. 2008

I had been looking at a newer shaver for a while since my Phillishave coolskin hit the big 5 years and it was with some nervousness that I purchased this razor. Going in blind with seemingly no reviews on the internet I closed my eyes and hit buy. Well two weeks on I can say it's an excellent shaver. It cuts close and quickly with no irritation, even on my own skin which is quite dry. The best thing for me is the cleaning system which not only looks great but leaves the shaver spotless and with a zesty lemon smell. This saves a lot of time as I had to manual clean my Phillisave constantly and I was never able to get it clean enough for my satisfaction. This is a top razor and well worth the money, having all the features of the 7 series (which is currently £190!) minus the pulsating head which if some reviews are to be believed isn't worth too much!
