These arrived two days earlier than they were to - love it when that happens! I was excited to find these as I first came across them at the Clothes Show last year, and bought a different Cargo eyeshadow set for my best friend. And then was kicking myself for not having got one for myself. We're not great at buying this kind of thing for each other, so the deal was that if she didn't like them I'd have them and I'd get her something else (phone convo, she wasn't there). (Un)fortunately, she loved them. Drats!
The packaging wasn't going to let anything happen to its contents, and the box itself has a plastic box and cardboard band round it. The texture of the box is kind of like a faux leather, and looks something similar. Much better than a plain brown box. There's a magnetic fold running along the front edge, easy to open for a klutz like me. Lift it, and you find a mirror which is a decent enough size, and a good sized double ended brush, not one of those horrible...

I am absolutely loving this palette! I'm an Urban Decay junkie but their palettes can be pricey, plus I wanted a cheaper and small palette for travelling. I heard that this brand had highly pigmented eyeshadows and I was offered this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review. The palette is good looking. It stays shut with a magnetic clasp. The outside of the palette is faux leather and it looks well made and classy. Inside you have a mirror in the lid, which is just what i need for travelling. There are 12 different shadows and they are a mix of matte and shiny. There are 2 neutrals, a good mix of browns, a lovely forest green and a grey blue, and a very dark brown and a black. For me as a brunette this is the perfect mix of colours for any occasion, and having some shimmery shades means I am all set for evenings as well as daytime.

So I am not really that into make up at this stage of my life, but it still can serve a purpose like for a job interview or going to the bank or something. This palette as 5 mattes and 7 shimmer shades. Two of the mattes, black crow, and chestnut, are more suitable for eye-lining as they are very dark. At 33, I feel a little old to indiscriminately dump glitter all over my face, so really appreciate the 3 nude mattes. Before highlighting and contouring became a fad, an accomplished make up artist once showed me that I could just do the highlighting part and I didn't need any other face make up, just that, and that I could do it with anything shimmery, so that was my routine for a while, and there are definitely some shades in this which can be used for highlighting for all skin tones. The only 2 colours that are not some shade of nude is one grey shimmer called twigs that I could see looking really good on dark skin as well as next to blue eyes, although I don't think it would suit...
