Ok for fringe touch-ups, but only just., 30 Sept. 2016

I have thick, wavy hair which can be pretty unruly if it gets caught in the rain between blow-dries. The fringe particularly bothers me because it tends to curl in strange and unpredictable ways. So I bought this to pop in my bag for quick fringe touch-ups.

The good:

* It's just about good enough to touch up my wayward fringe

* It's small

* It doesn't weigh much, so I don't mind carrying it around

The bad:

* Time to heat up is awful - it says two minutes in the manual, it's more like eight, and it varies

* Battery life is poor (probably because the heat-up time uses so much juice). I get to straighten my fringe maybe twice. I can't imagine anyone being able to do a whole head of hair with this.

* Sometimes it doesn't get to the hottest setting, so it's not even that reliably effective

I'm keeping it because Braun don't make the mini Independent gas tong I used to use, and the current gas models are too huge to...

Did not straighten even thin hair., 21 Jan. 2017
I bought this to use when camping, as we often just use a tent and don't have any electric points to hand. I have fairly thin hair so would have expected this to straighten it even if the temperature was not as high as can be achieved with standard straigteners. Unfortunately I charged these fully before using, and they still did not straighten my hair at all, even when I separated it out in to very small sections. I am afraid there isn't enough power in these to be effective.
