Totally contravening all accepted boundaries of work, I have a female colleague who I use as an informal evaluator of the various fragrances that I buy. She's no perfumier, but I believe that she's fairly well experienced when it comes to things like this, so I trust her opinion quite a lot. Said co-worker said two things about Declaration d'un Soir that really sum it up quite well:-
1) that it was evidently an expensive fragrance as the difference in quality between it and some other scents I wear was immediately apparent;
2) that it was one of the nicest men's scents that she had ever experienced.
I have to agree with her on both points; Declaration d'un Soir is a fantastic, super-sweet, super-floral scent with spicy (almost mixed spice!) undertones and a woody background, which bears a slight resemblance to Cartier's older Declaration fragrance but betters that one in pretty much all respects. It doesn't have its `edginess' but the aroma is, for me, nicer...
