It is a hybrid - somewhere between a soap and a cream, more like a thick mousse or a putty. It lathers up extremely well and it has a wonderful, deep almond scent. Cella lubricates perfectly, allowing the razor to glide effortlessly over the face, this is down to the fact that it contains tallow and coconut oil. Excellent for using with any type of brush - synthetic and all badger hair grades. Use straight from the bowl, no need to use a separate lathering up bowl. Load a wet shaving brush with an amount of Cella about the size of a small grape and then lather up on the face for at least 40 seconds to get a rich bubble free lather. Although this is called a cream it's better to use it as a soap and build the pre-lather on your brush. What I like about this soap is the natural feel to it. The scent seems natural as opposed to artificial with a subdued bitter almond scent, underneath that you get the whiff of tallow, the animal fat that makes this soap what it is; thick, creamy, slick and cushiony. A message to all you shavers using non-tallow soaps: the slight whiff of tallow isn't offputting at all - in fact you'll probably get to love it.This soap give a great shave and is a joy to lather. Would recommend!

Spectacularly moist and slick lather, 3 April 2013
Having used a lot of the hyped and not so hyped soaps and creams, I have come to admire Cella a lot. It produces a very fine lather with very little fuss if you go about it the right way.Cella doesn't seem to like my silvertip brush or the HJM black fibre synthetic, but loves my Omega boar brush. Use a pretty wet brush, and let the excess product drip into a lathering bowl, load for 30 seconds or so, add more water, and start swirling the lather, adding 6-7 drops of water every 20 seconds until you get it just right.The 1 kg block is just the same soap, but without the nice bowl.

Fantastic soft Italian shave soap, with a wonderful almond scent, when used with a decent brush produces masses of rich creamy lather, more than enough for three passes with the razor, will certainly buy again when my current supply runs low!!!!If you enjoy a smooth comfortable shave you need some of this soap.
