I'm sure it's great stuff - BUT not if you don't like the smell of marzipan., 4 Feb. 2015

As per the title...it really does have a strong smell if you sniff the tub. It isn't so strong once you get going with it...but if you really do have an aversion to the Almond/Marzipan smell then this might not be for you. As regards the efficacy of the stuff for shaving, then the reviews speak for themselves. I bought two tubs so am stuck with the smell for some time...and have experimented by adding other ingredients in order to mask the smell....believe me i've doctored this stuff, but it STILL smells of marzipan.Horses for courses....you like it or you don't.

Having heard some favourable remarks about Cella shaving soap I thought I would give it a try. Firstly, it's not a soap; it's a cream and a pretty thick one at that which I suspect has something to do with the fact that it contains tallow amongst its ingredients. The consistency makes loading the brush very easy. It bowl lathers and face lathers equally well though the size of the bowl doesn't leave much room to manoeuvre initially. The lather it produces is very dense and seems to provide both good cushion and slickness. The amazing almond scent is probably the best I have encountered yet and is not overpowering and doesn't linger long post-shave. Cella is excellent value for money and seems to combine the best elements of a cream and a soap in one product. Personally, Cella will always be in my rotation.

Stands up nicely to Arko soap, Neville and Musgo Real Creams.Lathers great in a bowl, great smell and very different to the clean, clinical soap smell of the others.I have a feeling I will be using this a lot, especially as it cost just £6 for 150ml on a web offer. By comparison, my other favourite; Neville Cream is £22 for 200ml.As the products are broadly similar in quality and results, (although I will probably never ditch the addictive Neville fragrance), I intend to cut costs by making Cella my weekday shave, and leave the expensive Neville to high-days and holidays.Hard to fault - used with Muhle R89 DE razor, Lord 'Classic' blades and Semogue 1305 Boar Brush.
