Hugely disappointing, 13 Sept. 2010

I bought this soap after seeing endless recommendations for it. I have to disagree. Completely.

I am a dedicated DE razor shaver and have been using this "older tech" option for about ten years. I know what I'm doing when it comes to shaving and shaving prep. In that time, I have narrowed down my favourite products and in terms of shaving soap, I really like Proraso - but that's getting harder and harder to find. I don't know if it's an issue with distributors or with the manufacturer changing their product range, but either way I thought I should find an alternative. After reading all those positive user reviews, I turned to Col Conk. What a disappointment.

Despite using a badger bristle brush and putting considerable effort into trying to whip up a lather, I got nowhere. The foam was no better than using common-or-garden soap. I don't see how this product justifies its premium price tag.
