Creed's Aventus burst out of Paris onto the European men's fragrance scene at the beginning of the decade, with the company's self-formulated new product being launched in mid- to high-end department stores across the continent, although it didn't come into its own commercially or artistically until I bought a bottle of it from House of Fraser in Westfield Stratford in 2013.

There's no denying that Aventus is class - it even manages to dignify the inclusion of vanilla in its mix, which is kind of amazing, because vanilla is usually cloying and puddingy.

My only reservation about Aventus is its inevitable ubiquity. It's also dearer than it needs to be. Which - rather than keeping it 'exclusive' only excludes a lot of people who would otherwise wear it - so it then becomes a signifier for a certain demographic, and not necessarily a cool one, either. But it does smell great.

I never go wrong when wearing Creed Aventus. Every single day I wear this I get compliments like crazy! Even people have told me that they hate men wearing aftershaves but I smell so good! What amazed me is that after work (about 8 or 9 hours) when I got home, someone told me that I smelt really nice and they were far away from me!It gives you confidence, I love smelling it on myself, everyone else loves smelling it on me, what more can a perfume give me?You get what you pay for, and this is just amazing.
