Really excellent straighteners but..., 23 Oct. 2012

These are very effective straighteners that represent good value for the price IMHO.

Function:

The digital display is on the inside of the handle so a little awkward (but no more so than my current ones). Be very careful if you want to alter the temperature whilst using them - the controls are close to very hot plates! For me the digital controls are not such a big bonus - I set them to full power every time - but I do think that the sensitivity of the controls is excellent - from 110 degrees for hair extensions through 160, 180, 200, 220 (enough for most hair) to 230 for really strong curly / frizzy hair - the plates heat up quickly and cool down fast too.

The plates float and fit together well - you need a very light touch - which takes some adjusting to if you are used to being a bit fierce with them.

The design of these stylers is useful - the tongs are flat rather than barrel shaped - so it is easier to get close to the scalp and to catch the baby hairs...

I have been a loyal member of the GHD team for a very long time, ive had the mark 1,2,3 and 4 and ive recommended them to every single person i have ever spoken to about hair straighteners.

I have to say that I will be changing my recommendations to these instead.

For the price they are remarkable, i was very impressed with them for several reasons.

1. The auto-shut off is brilliant, a feature ghd does not have and i think in the long run it will help to prevent damage to the plates.

2. Variable heat control, absolutely fantastic, my hair is super fine and i used these at 180C and my hair was pin straight and will cause less damage.

3. The free carry pouch and heat mat, i had to purchase these for my ghd's separately.

4. The 3 year guarantee is exceptional value.

5. The fact that it comes with a worldwide travel plus is fantastic, saving costs of having to buy travel adapters is a great feature.
