I didnt use this for a year - was using a simpson duke and chubby 2 and gave this a whirl a month or back and actually its a lot better that I first thought. I think use and aging has soften the bristles and Ive got use to a splayed head now - actually I rather like it as you can massage the face.
I initially gave it a 3 - Id give it 4.5 now.

I bought this on the back of the great reviews and the fact that I have the DE89 razor which is fantastic. I have and compared it to the £3.20 Wilkinson Sword brush.
First off - its pretty (barring straggly curly hairs) and the size is good. Stand is plastic but fine and good to get one at this price. However the brush Im not so impressed with - two main issues - you can't control it and too many prickly bristles - but it is a very good lathering brush.

The brush is soft in the stems of the hair and there are a lot of them - so you can't get...

This really is a lovely shaving brush.
As I face lather I dont want or need a huge brush and this medium size EJ brush is just right.It sits nicely in the palm of my hand and my fingers fit snuggly around the knot to give me great control.
I soak the brush for a minute or so in warm water while I get my kit together to start my shave.
A quick shake to remove the excess water and its into the soap or cream (whichever Ive chosen for the shave).Swirl around a few times and it gathers soap/cream extremely well.I transfer this to my face and start to lather.In under a minute I have a rich,thick,creamy lather in abundence-enough for 2-3 passes easily.
Its a comfy,soft brush but still has enough "backbone" for soaps (though I havnt tried Mitchells WF yet!!!)
Its a little prickly until it gets bedded in but after a few weeks use its very nice on the face.
When you get it-shampoo it with an animal shampoo to prime it.
After use give it a very good rinse...
