It is not understood why these have been give such low reviews it can only thought they are not being used correctly or stubble is really tough in which case electrics are possibly a more comfortable option. It is of interest to note that whilst some give such low stars they do not give an alternative solution. If anyone can recommend and send me a packet of another brand of razors better than GII's to test then please do but it is with doubt that anyone can. These give a safe, super smooth shave!
These Blue II's have been used for the past 40 yrs (Inc Forces British Services, clean shaven for at least 6 days a week) and they are the BEST you will get for a safety razor and there have been many alternatives used before these were discovered. Back in 1975 test were done with wet razors and the GII's came out on top, we started using them since that time. With the right soap or shaver cream these are all most users will ever need, even for cyclists who shave their legs...

No fancy lube strip, microphins, fancy handles, vibrating pulse whatever you call it, swivel heads on an adustable spring mounnted triple blades blah blah blah!!!
The Gillete Blue II does exactley what it was designed to do and thats give you a hassle free, close shave at a good price.
You can pick up 20 of these bad boys for under a fiver and believe you me, they do the job just aswell as The Mach 3 or The Fusion aslong as you know how to use them.
Make sure you have a hot shower/bath before you shave to open your pores. Wash your face with a good facial soap or exfoliator so that no dirt gets caught between you skin and the razor.
Use lots of shave cream and make sure you keep your skin as wet as possible. Always shave with hot water. Shave lightly with the direction of the hair growth. Remeber the Blue II is a fixed head shaver so you could cut yourself if you press to hard. Let the quality blades of the Blue II do the work, easy does it.

I started shaving properly about 17 years ago and there have been many fancy razors since that time, as a result I tried new shaving innovations that offered better shaves through more blades, guard wires, vibration etc etc.
It was on being away and having forgot my usual razor I went to a local shop and had to buy some Gillete Blue II through lack of choice, this cheap and out of date razor from the early 80's on the surface had little going for it but for two blades ,it was sure to be poor, wasn't it?......
Well to my surprise I prefered it to the newer Gillette Mach's and Fusions, it was sharp and offered a good clean shave and felt kind on my face. So perhaps while it wasn't quite as close as the newer blades ,it probably would if I continued rubbing it over my face a couple more times scraping off a little more skin as a result.
These blades are great value and the difference these and the newer models is about an hour or two, by that I mean a shave...
