Tested and used by my husband, his findings are as follows :
I must start off by saying that I prefer a wet shave with a blade for closeness but I do find that on occasions an electric razor is extremely useful. I have been using both foil and rotary razors for over thirty years as secondary razors.
The Philips Aquatouch AT750 tested appears to be the basic model of this range. It is comfortable in the hand and quite easy to rinse under the tap after each use. It is recommended that after a month's use the heads are dismantled and thoroughly cleaned. After two years use, the heads should be replaced.
I have tested the AT750 with the skin lathered with both shaving cream and with ordinary soap and I can find no difference with the closeness of the shave. I cannot remember the last time that I used an electric shaver, and even then that was with an old Braun foil shaver and not a rotary shaver; wet shaving has been my choice just for that closeness of shave and smooth clean feeling afterwards. So, this wet and dry shaver tempted me with the promise of something potentially comparable.
Obviously the rotary heads were a completely new experience for me and it took a little time to realise that these would tackle the stubble working in any direction, so a new technique is required. The heads too move, like suspension, to accommodate those curves, bumps and hollows that make every face almost unique.
The things I liked about this was that it did feel good in the hand and the ability to use when wet is a big advantage; it is rechargeable too which is a big selling point for me, so not tied to a plug socket on a wall. Now, if you knew me, you'd know that I'm not normally one for shaving. I prefer the country bumpkin look, wandering around in check-shirt and skinnies listening to whatever's on Pitchfork's Best New Music list. That was until I got a job.

The first thing you'll notice about the Phillips Aquatouch is the price. At a reasonably modest (£) (or thereabouts), it's no more expensive than a few weeks of Mach 3 razor heads, or any of those replaceable blades.
