Ive never written a review before but this really needed one. I have very dark brown thick hair and I was getting tired of shaving my legs every day, I have been looking at one of these for a couple of years and wasn't sure about weather or not to get one due to the price. I finally bought one and decided to only use it on one leg so I could see the difference, I did everything else the same, shaved both legs at the same time etc. After the 3rd time of using it the difference was amazing. I would usually have to shave my legs every day to keep them smooth but a week on and one leg was hair free. People have laughed when I have told them I only used this on one leg but I wanted to make sure it really was working and to see the difference myself. I would 100% recommended this product it is easy to use and works. Hope this helps if you are in two minds about getting one.

An attempt to understand Lumea model numbers (among other things), 28 Aug. 2015

Let’s assume that you accept that IPL works, that you’ve read the description on the Amazon product page and you’ve decided you want to give it a go. Enough of paying a fortune at salons, might as well get it out of the way in one go and make some longterm economy.

That leaves the question: which model to get? I'm going to assume it will be a Philips Lumea, but there seem to be so many...

After trolling Amazon, the Philips (hopelessly out-of-date!) website and a few other sites I can offer the following;

• The current (2015) model ranges comprises the SC2005, SC2007, SC1993 & SC1997.

• The SC20xx models have batteries and are cordless, the SC19xx ones aren’t.

• These replace the 2014 models - SC2004, SC2006, SC2008, SC1991 & SC1996

• Any other model numbers predate even these – (Philips has been making IPL systems for a lot of years and their numbering is a mess).

ERGONOMICS

The gun, well it looks like a gun, well the gun feels comfortable in the hand - not heavy nor too light. It feels well made and isn't so heavy that it'll fatigue you.

It feels sturdy enough in case of a drop. (not tested.)

MOUSTACHE

I'm sure my wife won't mind me telling you that she has a little moustache. (It's rather off putting to be honest and I'm told it's impolite to point it out!) (It's actually only a little clump of hairs-still off putting though)

Well, we tried the face attachment on the clump. I could see a difference after two treatments and after 4 (or it could have been 5) treatments it's gone.

I don't miss it. (NOTE it's lucky my wife doesn't read my reviews.)
