The first thing that I would say about the HoMedics Duo is to check online and make sure that this is suitable for you. The basic information is that it is not suitable for blond, red or grey hair – if you have dark blond/brown or black hair then you can use it. However, there are also a lot of ‘do not use this if….’ Some of the conditions listed were pretty obvious, but others were not things I might not have necessarily considered (diabetes for example). I would probably suggest going to the company webpage and just making sure that it is safe for you to use and testing it on part of your skin before progressing. Saying all that, I did not find it any more painful than an epilator and suffered no side effects, so, although the booklet does leave you feeling a little nervous with a huge list of warnings, generally it felt quite comfortable.
This is suitable for use on the body, such as legs and underarms, and you can use it on the face (below...

This HoMedics Duo IPL HH100 is compact, well made, and easy to use. In common with all IPL systems, it is NOT suitable for all skin or hair types. If you have dark skin or very fair hair then don't bother with it. If you have a few too many moles or dark spots, then again don't bother. It does not hurt, the sensation is no more than a mild heat; however after a few flashes the smell of burning is quite noticeable, even on a totally hairless area of skin!
In use it is simple; first shave down and wash the skin to remove excess hair dirt and grease etc, then select the relevant intensity for your hair and skin and zap away. Low intensity settings allow continuous use or 'wiping', higher intensity is single shot requiring one to zap step by step through the area being treated. It senses if it is close enough to be effective and will not flash if unhappy. The various buttons and indicators are intuitive in their use.
The instructions are comprehensive with...

Having not used such a device previously I was somewhat concerned to read the considerable safety warnings and precautions which take up a considerable portion of the enclosed instruction manual - I would recommend any user to read these instructions meticulously prior to use.
The “Duo’ itself is a rather nice unit, not too heavy but of sufficient volume and design to fit comfortably in the hand.
The unit is mains powered unlike many similar devices which are rechargeable - the supplied lead is less than 2m in length - so if you’re treating large areas factor in the need for an extension lead.
To date, i have only used the Duo on my arms to test the area - following the “Test’ Instructions to the letter!
The Duo offers ‘permanent hair “reduction” based on Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).
Apparently this system is used by professionals worldwide.
The system offers long term...
