An airy aroma with an Achilles' heel, 31 Dec. 2010

In my quest for the perfect scent, I stumbled across Hugo Boss Element, a fragrance that the Hugo website describes as "...designed for the urban traveller who just knows how to navigate the city and where to find its creative elements." The bottle is in the shape of an oxygen tank to represent the element of air, something that was lost on me until it was pointed out.

Also according to the Hugo website, Element has a calone top note, a ginger and coriander heart and cedarwood bass notes. The marketing blurb aside, I'm not sure which of the ingredients I sense the most, but the overriding impression I get when I smell this fragrance is that of citrus combined with the seashore. That probably sounds like a fairly unpleasant combination but the reality is that this is a nice, airy scent that's well suited to both formal and casual wear.

Unfortunately, this airy aroma is also Element's Achilles' heel as it wears off much faster than pretty much any other scent I...
