Brightens eyes, but poor makeup base, 30 July 2011

The price for Lancôme Rénergie Yeux may seem absurd, but as soon as you apply it to your skin you realise that this eye duo really is in a different league from the eye creams you grab off the shelf at the drug store for under a fiver.

Step 1 is a silky white cream which you dab around your eye and then wipe in an outwards motion. The cream is perhaps a bit heavily fragranced but I've experienced no irritation with it at all, even when actually getting it in the eye itself. This Step is supposed to lift the skin around the eye and reduce bagginess. I'm too young to have any bagginess at the moment, but I could still appreciate the beautiful, luxurious texture of the cream and how it smoothed and brightened my eye area. It felt like I was rubbing ambrosia into my skin (the drink of the gods, not the custard...).

Step 2 is the solid tinted cream for reducing dark areas and increasing brightness. It feels nicer and lighter than any concealer or foundation...

Disappointing, 8 Jan. 2013

I bought this after being given a sample in store which I was very impressed with. I suffer from sensitive skin and have trouble finding eye creams which don't irritate. As I had no trouble with the sample I bought the full size.

The texture of the cream itself is light, easy to apply and feels nice on the skin. The concealer has a slight powdery texture and as such highlights any slight dryness on the skin. Its tint is very pale - I can just about get away with it and my skin tone is very fair. Its brightening properties are good, however, and makes a big difference to dark shadows, albeit it temporarily.

After 13 weeks of use I have found no lifting effect as the product claims, and no diminishing in my wrinkles, puffiness or dryness. Its hydration properties are not long term, so use of the concealer STILL highlights the dry skin around my eyes even after all these weeks of use.
