This L'Oreal magic one for all lipliner has proven to be a big disappointment. Firstly, it's not so much of a lip liner in the sense of shaping and defining - the only job it does is to prevent lipstick from bleeding at the edges. This is does reasonably well and the transparent colour is, inevitably, suitable for all shapes of lipstick.

Where this really doesn't work for me, is that the design is really counter-intuitive. This might seem surprising in a liner pencil, but as it turns out, this isn't really a pencil. Instead, the lip liner product is cased in a plastic tube that's been made to look like a pencil.

At first glance, it looks as though this is supposed to be a product that you can advance when the 'lead' is running down as there is a white plastic end section that twists. Turns out that's not how this is meant to work, and twisting the end does nothing. Instead the plastic is a soft type that IS meant to be sharpened. Unfortunately, it doesn't do this...

L'Oréal Paris Le Lip Liner Magique

When first reading the description of this Lip Liner, I thought it sounded a very good idea. However, in use, I have sort of changed my mind.

This Lip Liner is a nicely presented product with its pale gold colour, transparent plastic protective cap and white end.

Printed on the outside of the pencil, in several languages, is what it is – "colour blocker – contour perfector".

I had applied my moisturiser and light foundation and then went to apply this Lip Liner, BUT as soon as it touched my lips the point of this pencil broke off! Not a good start and very off-putting.

I was able to sharpen it with a specific lip pencil sharpener that I have, and it went ok.

Application of the Lip Liner went ok and it felt smooth on my lips. My lipstick glided over it ok and felt comfortable.

What I did notice was that my lipstick did not last as long using it over...

Inexpensive but ultimately pretty useless, 15 Jan. 2016

On paper, this seemed like quite a good idea - a lip pencil that matches any colour. In practice it is not great, for a few reasons.Firstly, the liner is, in essence, clear wax in pencil form. This has *some* effect on helping avoid smudging, but isn't an ideal substance for a pencil - it's soft and easily broken. Mine broke the first time I used it - and then you come to the second issue; it's pretty well impossible to sharpen to the nice point it comes with. The inner wax isn't fully attached to the outer bit and when you sharpen it the results are uneven and hard to use.I have ended up using this fairly rarely because the results are not brilliant and it just isn't that well executed.Nice idea - just doesn't really perform as expected.
