This is a gel that foams up a little once you squirt it out (but not as much as soap). The good thing is that you do not need that much to wash your face with as a little goes a long way. My husband tested this and although he's used it only twice – it arrived this morning – he rates it. He's been a soap-and water man for as long as I've known him (which is many,many years, believe me); in fact he has poured scorn on “man” skin care for years, so I was surprised when he agreed to try this. He says the gel is easy to use - apply to wet skin, massage in and rinse off. It feels clean and tingly on the skin, and I can attest to the lovely smell and the smoothness of his skin.
No cardboard packaging to get rid of, it comes in a sturdy plastic tube with flip-top cap. The directions for use, however, printed in white on an orange background are very difficult to read. Okay, I know this is a face wash so it's not critical, but still, it's not easy to read whether this is applied to wet or dry skin (wet, as it happens). Designers of packaging need to take this sort of thing into consideration, and I've noticed with quite a few L'Oreal...
