Good but at what Environmental Cost?, 27 Oct. 2015

I have used Scrubs from many different manufacturers. My favourite scrub is the one in the Lab Series range, which contains a very high proportion of the microbeads in a rich lathering gel. Many of the lower priced scrubs have been very disappointing, they either contain very few beads or the cream they use, dries out my face. I use the scrub before shaving to soften the stubble. This reduces drag and potential razer burn, as I have sensitive skin. Whilst this product is not up to the quality standards of Lab Series, it is still pretty good for the price. My major concern is that the beads in many of the scrubs tend to be apricot husk, whereas this product states they are made from polyethylene. This cannot be good for the environment. I would prefer to see a product without such material in it. So does this product work? Yes it does soften the stubble, it does reduce razer burn and it does remove dead skin cells. There is no dryness or tightness of the skin after using it...

L'Oreal Men Expert Pure and Matt Scrub, 9 Nov. 2015

This is a deep exfoliating wash to help unblock pores. It does not contain soap, so will not dry out your skin, although it does contain exfoliating micro-beads, which have been found to damage the environment (I fact I will admit I was not aware of until reading a review on this page and thank the reviewer for pointing it out). Having looked this fact up, I note that micro-beads are also present in some other products, such as toothpaste and alternatives, such as jojoba beads, are now being substituted instead of these plastic beads in other products. Hopefully, L’Oreal will follow suit, but it is something you need to be aware of in order to make an informed choice.

This face wash aims to deeply cleanse the skin, unblock pores and remove impurities. My teenage son tried this out, as he sometimes has oily skin and is at that age where he can get spots, although he generally has a good complexion. Just a small amount of this scrub lathered well and, since using...

It's okay, but I wouldn't use it daily, 1 Nov. 2015

We had a bonfire yesterday, and with all the soot and ash that was in the air it was a perfect time to test out this "deep exfoliating wash" with its "exfoliating microbeads". I usually just use soap and water to clean my face, but soap leaves my skin feeling a bit tight. After using this and washing it off, my skin did not feel as tight but of course this is an abrasive product, which feels very gritty as you apply it and massage it across your face, and I can't really say that I liked doing that or noticed much benefit afterwards. I have cleaned my nose with it a few time over the last few days hoping it might be good on removing grease and blackheads. It does seem good at that, but it leaves my nose feeling like it's been scrubbed for about half an hour after use and I don't think I want to put up with that daily.

I have a question too; maybe someone can answer me in the comments. Are these "exfoliating microbeads" biodegradable? Or are they...
