Only made the slightest difference to the softness of my short beard

I have been contemplating getting something to soften my bristles for a little while now, having been sporting a short beard for a few months. This is my first time of having a beard of any kind, as I’d usually keep trimmed at 3mm or so, but I’m holding it at 12-14mm and I’ve received compliments on it suiting me. The downside is the slight rough texture of my fairly coarse facial hair.

What drew me to trying this L’Oreal gel was the fact that in the description on my amazon screen at the time, it clearly stated “[...] your beard feels soft, supple & smooth. [...]”.

I decided in the interests of science to apply this gel every day but only to one side of my face so that I could draw a comparison. It’s quite a nice liquid-gel texture which disappears easily...

Softens and Dandifys the Desparate Dans Of This World., 17 Oct. 2015

If you have stubble and a relationship then you have the problem that it is like kissing a baby hedgehog (or so my wife tells me).

And after a while the old skin beneath your stubble seems to get and look a bit ‘ratty’.

More like the bottom of a mad hamster's cage than a smooth, sweet smelling, soft, kissable surface.

This solution by L'Oreal Men solves both these problems in one go.

I makes your stubble that would rival the great Desparate Dan of the Dandy in soft as down- well not quite down maybe but it does soften the stubble to make your face a lot more attractive for kissing which cannot be bad.

The other effect is that it actually conditions the face and makes your skin feel really good not just for you but for that person in your life that comes into your contact zone whether it is your partner or even Mum.

Now to business.

The solution is watery- it has to be to soften those bristles just the same...

Soften without trace, 18 Oct. 2015

In between shaves, I really do get the hard stubble that even my Daughter tells me to "shave the whiskers" as she doesn't like them but I've been using this for a week now and I find it really does soften the stubble as well as moisturising the chin and cheek areas above my beard line. It has a clean smell during application (possibly from the Peppermint leaf extract or the Limonene) , the liquid itself is very fluid, more like shaving oil than a gel so is very easy to apply either into the hands or I did squirt direct onto the face which did seem easy enough for targeting, the pump disperses a small amount each time.

Very easy to apply either way, absorbs very quickly and easily into either stubble or skin and my skin certainly feels fresher after and the stubble softer. When I do finally shave I also believe it feels less resistant to either the wet razor or electric (I use either depending on time) which if is the case is a certain plus.
