Brilliant quality, lasting finish but lighter shade than the liquid!, 5 July 2012

Be aware that the True Match foundation powder shades run lighter than the same shade in the liquid foundation. I have W3 Golden Beige and the equivalent shade in the True Match powder is definitely lighter. Excellent quality; if you are impressed with the liquid then you will be happy with this. However, if you have drier skin (mine is oily/combination) this might not be the one for you.

A lovely neat little compact in sturdy clear plastic. There are two compartments, both snap open easily (no broken fingernails and lost tempers). The top compartment holds a cake of pressed powder, the lower opens to reveal a mirror and a small applicator pad. It lacks the beauty and elegance of old-style compacts but is very much neater for carrying about, more practical and a lot cheaper too.

The powder itself is very nice indeed. It looks rather dark and I thought it would be completely the wrong shade (I usually use an ivory or pale beige) but it is so delicately translucent that it goes on much paler than it looks, giving a barely-perceptible peach blush to my rather pale skin. It's quite a translucent powder; definitely a finishing powder (it won't cover blemishes, freckles or the like as a heavier powder will). It shades imperceptibly on to the skin, smoothing pores, giving a fine, perfect finish. I have used it over foundation, when it gave a lovely soft, peachy, downy...

Opens in to 2 parts, the compacted powder on top, then lift that up and there's a mirror underneath with an application pad. I'm not really good at makeup but I kind of know what i'm doing, and I actually really like this, which I normally avoid foundations and powders because the colour rarely matches my skin. It applies light and you can't see the powder visibly, took quite a lot to make a difference to any major blemishes on my face, but with a moisturiser or primer underneath it, I like it as a light dusting as it does smooth everything out. It's very much a subtle product; would require a lot of it to look noticeable but then you're in foundation cake territory - if you want just something to even things out ever so slightly, this is your one.
