This is a light caramel coloured gel that applied easily. The colour of the gel does disappear into your skin quite easily so that does make it difficult to see where you have applied and where you haven't, however paying attention and concentrating soon sorts this problem out. I did do a patch test the night before I used it in case of an allergy and there were no problems. All though, interestingly enough I couldn't see a patch test of tan coloured skin the next morning- so when I came to apply I did wonder how much of a difference there would be. I applied at night time, and all though my face was initially a little sticky, after a few minutes it became less so but I still felt I couldn't lie down to sleep for about 20 minutes for fear of wiping it all over my pillow and only having half a tanned face so I stayed up a bit longer. I like this - it has a subtle colour to the gel (which doesn't really help when applying as it immediately blends into your skin!) but as it's for your face it's not hard to avoid going over the space patch twice.
Because of the ingredients you are advised to do a patch test - admittedly when I was younger I would be far too impatient to do this when using hair colour etc but I did in this case - I don't want to look like I've been stung by a thousand bees!
My skin felt tacky to touch for over half an hour after applying and I was conscious that I shouldn't touch my face and should avoid creasing my neck during this time.
I left it overnight and yes I think there was a subtle colour to my face (and neck) now - I presume that if you apply it every day you'll build up a bit more colour like with those every day tanning lotions; however being acne prone I will stick to applying it every other day as I don't want to clog up my pores, and given that I have...
