This particular Manuka Doctor product has me a bit confused because I'm not quite sure who it's for, or more specifically which age-group it's meant for - I'd have thought younger women (or even girls) would be more likely to want the gold dusted effect but how many of them feel the need of a firming serum? Either way, it's not a product meant for me (a middle-aged man) so I took some advice on this one...
It's a sweet-smelling gel and has slightly sticky texture, honey is one of the bigger ingredients and it feels like it, although that stickiness disappears as it dries on the skin. The fragrance is pleasant enough but overdone and doesn't fade as quick or as much as you'd like. The glitter effect is subtle yet noticeable depending on how much product you use, using normal skincare amounts results in only a sparse glitter effect that's hardly worth the effort. Photo-ready skin - that is what grabbed my attention! I had to do a video for work and felt that since it would be seen (potentially) by those who had not seen me in a very long time, that perhaps I ought to wear something on my skin to look at my best? (I think it is called bolting the door long after the horse has gone!) This Manuka Doctor ApiRefine Gold Dust Firming Serum is very different from anything I have ever tried before - it contains bits of colloidal gold (I have done a quick search and this is said - to be helpful for all sorts of things which I am very cynical about) but presumably reflects the light and make the skin look younger (different?) The cream also contains purified bee venom which alarmed me some what. However, I had a look at the Manuka website ([...]) and collecting it does not harm the bees (although I am sure that they would rather be flying round flowers than in a laboratory)
