I did not know that heat mats were available until a friend told me. Though I do remember to unplug the straighteners I sometimes forget to move them off the wood dressing table. This mat is very cerise but fits on the corner of the dressing table ok. I did check underneath and it does still seem to pass heat through - not as much obviously as having really hot items left on a wooden surface but I did expect it to absorb all the heat. Will continue to use but may look around for a thicker one later.
