Works well, looks better than tissue!, 19 Feb. 2011
I remembered these sticks from the barbers I went to as a young boy. Having just got a new Merkur Futur Safety razor I had a couple of weeks where I had to adjust from my previous razor and got the odd nick. I used to do the time honoured male tradition of sticking a bit of tissue paper on any cuts which is a very poor solution. The styptic pencil however, works fantastically well. Just run the end under the tap to wet and then dab the cut with the pencil. You'll get a slight stinging sensation for a few seconds and then the cut magically stops bleeding! All this just for a few quid. Every man who shaves should have one.

Works but might not last too long, 17 Dec. 2011
It stops cuts bleeding with a sharp sting. A white residue is left over once it dries however, so dont forget that. The stick is a cylinder and I have found that the base of the stick attaching it to the plastic is wearing away faster than the rest of it and may snap off prematurely.

Always Handy, 11 Aug. 2012

I love a close wet shave, and as I shave both ways and do my head as well, a styptic pencil is a must have. To be honest, if you shave regularly it is inevitable that at some stage you are going to have a minor cut or too, especially with a new blade, or when a dreaded spot appears.

If you are buying one of these for the first time and have never used a styptic pencil before, here are a few tips. Push hard against the cut for 30-60 seconds, this should dry up the area. It will sting, but at least you won't be bleeding everywhere. After it has dried you will have a small white ring on the area, so gently wipe away with a damp face cloth or finger. An important thing to remember is that if you think it was a spot that you caught (and that happens most times for me), then place a bit of Savlon, Germoline, or whatever you have on the place. There is a chance that if you don't you could get an infection. Also remember to dry the pencil after use, or leave it uncovered to...
