Ideal gift for someone going off on a short break, 25 Sept. 2016

This is a useful selection of essentials in travel sizes, ideal for taking on a trip. The packaging is obviously designed with gift giving in mind, and I thought it was quite pretty. I've given sets like this in previous years as presents, and this is the prettiest packaging. Inside, are four products, all small enough to be carried on to a plane in your hand luggage. There is a 50ml shower cream, enough for a few days away, and with just a hint of almond in its pleasant scent, a strawberry shine lip balm (nice and moisturising) which looks pink tinted in the tube, but not so much on the lips, a 25ml pearl deodorant in a glass bottle. I'm not sure about the claimed 48 hour efficacy but I like the smell and feel of this creamy product, and finally, a 25ml moisturising cream which can be used for face, body and hands. My teenaged daughters are particular fans of this cream, which seems to help balance their sometimes oily skin. If you know someone who is going off for a short break...

Let's start with the packaging, which is modest but with some nice touches, such as the spots of reflective gold foil and the little carry handle. However, the products were not fixed in place so rattled around inside the box.In the box are minature versions of popular Nivea products: a 50ml shower cream (standard size would be 250ml), a 25ml moisturising cream (standard size would be 200ml), a 25ml anti-perspirant deodorant (standard size would be 50ml) and a full size lip balm.As you would expect from Nivea, the products are all good quality. The creams and deodorant are gently scented and generously moisturising. The lip balm is rich and easily absorbed. Perfect for taking to work or on a short break. However, as a gift set I felt the combination of products was a little uninspiring.Described as a mini 'treat moments' gift set, it could be more accurately described as a mini 'everyday essentials' gift set.
