I had a Semogue, by first boar brush and end up preferring it to the badger brushes I own. Wanted another boar and liked the handle shape of this, but honestly it makes no difference to stubby handles, if anything the narrower width is a bit harder to hold. Still breaking it in, but out of the box there has been no smell and its not scratchy at all. Good backbone despite a longer loft than my Semogue, and a slightly narrower knot actually makes it a bit more accurate under the nose. The finish isn't as nice either, the gold bit is gold plastic not metal, so this will probably end up in my travel kit but it's not a bad boar brush at all and I plan to use it for a while.
