My hair is thinning slightly on the upper and front parts of my head, and although I have used lotions such as minoxidil to treat this, fairly succesfully, I also wanted to take a break from the use of that treatment because I don't know about the effects of its long term use, and also the treament is not cheap. The Pantene thickening treatment works differently in that it doesn't slow down loss of hair nor regenerate the follicles, but it thickens the hair you already have. I have found it effective, with immediate visible improvement in the shine and feel of strength of the thinning hair, and also very easy to use. The good thing is that you can apply it to wet and/or dry hair (minoxidil requires freshly clean but completely dry hair and scalp so you can't use it immediately after a shower, for example). I will use it next in combination with the minoxidil, when I start using the latter again in a month's time, to see if it speeds up the visible effects of the hair regrowth.

Pantene Pro-V Expert Collection AgeDefy is a range of products meant for mature women and promises to strengthen the outer hair so it feels fuller and has less breakage. There are four products in the range; shampoo, moisturiser, repair and thickening treatment. They recommend you use all four products for a period of fourteen days to gain the full effect. I've been using them for slightly longer and my hair feels fuller, is much less flyaway, brittle, and there's less of it in my brush after drying.

The Advanced thickening treatment is a light, non-sticky spray that goes onto wet or dry hair, they recommend fifteen pumps of the spray, massage the treatment into your hair and then finish as usual - that's it. If I'm in a real rush and don't have time to wash my hair in the morning I wet it, spray in the thickening treatment, dry it and it looks good enough. That's quite something when your hair's as fine as mine.

This isn't a miracle cure and I have no idea about...
