Have to say I'm baffled by the amount of awful reviews. Granted, it may not be as well (some might say over!) engineered as the original head but it cuts just as close and as quickly (isn't that all that really matters?). Because the heads are now fixed (whereas the original's one's moved almost independently) the shave might not feel as contoured and close to the skin, but that's about all the "negative" i could find.It's the same head they use on the 9000 series, but rather than pay £200 for that entire unit, the 8000 series owners get to buy the same head, giving exactly the same shave, for a quarter of the price!People leaving the 1 star reviews need to get a grip...

As good as the discontinued RQ12? No. Looks cheaper quality and doesn't give as comfortable a shave. But, it's ok given that this is all Philips can be bothered to offer nowadays and cheaper than buying a new shaver.

The best shaver head so far produced by Phillips. Like all others, it worked very well when I first used it, but unlike others it is still performing better than any other one month later. Good Points:1. This head fits the earlier Arcitec and is therefore a first rate replacement head.2. It shaves faster than previous models.3. It gives a closer shave than previous models4. It retains the shavings inside the head, instead of dropping them into the basin, or onto clothes or onto the floor - a big improvement.January 2016: After 10 months of use, the shaver head was noisier and a little slower but still gave a good close shave. However, at 11 months it is beginning to lose its edge, and I will need to buy another one of these when it's 12 months old. That would be reasonable at say £25, but at about £50 including carriage, this razor becomes an expensive item to use. It's still the best, but the best of an expensive way of shaving.
