The best just got better, I love Philips shavers and this one is the best I have used, 11 July 2015

I have been using Philips shavers for over 40 years, this is the best one yet.

Of all the Philips shaver range I prefer the wet and dry models, this S9041/12 is a wet and dry model.

The instructions say to charge it for one hour but I always prefer to give them an initial charge overnight. A very nice LED display shows the charging state, when fully charged all 3 bars are lit. After each use these bars light up briefly to show how much charge is left.

I use Tesco shaving gel on a wet face, and the shaver works very well with this combination. The heads move to to follow your face contour with the result being a reduced time to have a clean close shave.

Compared to my previous wet and dry shaver, the 9000 model certainly gives a closer shave.

A quality feel, for wet and dry shaving, 14 July 2015

While I don't believe you can ever get quite as close a shave from an electric razor as you can from wet shaving with a decent blade, this one comes pretty close. And there's no denying that an electric razor is an awful lot more convenient: if you need to get yourself presentable quickly, you can shave in about a minute, with virtually no risk at all of nicking your skin like you can with a safety razor.

This Philips razor can be used to wet or dry shave: that is, you can use shaving gel to let the blades glide more smoothly over your skin. You can even shave while you're showering if you want. And yes, using shaving gel makes a huge difference: it is really comfortable. The downside is that you need to rinse the blades out afterwards, although I do this every time anyway: it only takes a few seconds, and saves them from getting clogged up. Comparable to a wet shave with a razor, 8 Jan. 2016

This is the first time in around 10 years that I've had an electric shaver but I got a bit of money for Christmas so thought I'd treat myself.

I've only used it 3 times so far but first impressions are really good. It's surprisingly quiet and while it doesn't sound all that powerful it actually does a very good job of giving a close shave, and thanks to its pivoting heads it even shaves well in the areas notoriously hard to shave properly such as the neck and chin.

Naturally it's not as close as using a wet razor but it's really not far off, definitely much closer than I expected it to be, it also has the added advantage of being quicker and more convenient.

I was hoping that I would be able to do away with my trusty wet razor altogether but unfortunately this is not the case because I have a goatee and need to be able t trim very close to it in order to keep its shape. This is something that the Philips shaver is unable to do and the enclosed snap on...
