Philips SC2004/11 Lumea IPL Hair Removal System for body with Slide and Flash Mode is available in Systems

For smooth skin at home, the Philips SC2004/11 Lumea IPL hair removal system is the ideal way to prevent hair regrowth. Gentle pulses of light, applied regularly, keep skin silky-smooth every day. This model has the most flashes yet, with estimated 100,000 flashes per unit. With the backing of 50 years of hair removal research, you can trust Philips Lumea to give you the ultimate result. Model number: SC2004/11 Do not use Lumea: If your natural hair colour in the treatment areas is light blonde, white, grey or red. If you are of skin type VI (you rarely or never get sunburnt and you tan very darkly). In this case you run a high risk of developing skin reactions such as strong redness, burns or discolouration when you use Philips Lumea. For 48 hours after sun bathing, and wait 24 hours after using Lumea before sun exposure. 1. Pre-shave the treatment area to ensure the light energy is channelled in the most efficient way to the follicle. This is only required for the first few treatments. 2. Consult the skin and hair type matrix and select the light intensity suitable for your skin tone and body hair colour. 3. Apply gentle pulses of light to the hair. The light produces heat in the hair, which is transferred to the hair follicle. This stimulates the hair follicle to go into a resting phase. 4. As a consequence, the hair sheds naturally and hair regrowth is inhibited. 5. To prevent hairs from growing back, the treatment must be repeated every two weeks (or every month for legs) which will progressively reduce hair regrowth to a minimum. Suitable for use with confidence to remove hair on body parts including legs, underarm, bikini area, stomach and arms. Chemical free and clinically proven. Accessories included: body attachment, luxury storage pouch and cleaning cloth. General information: Approved for home use. Rechargeable battery powered. Batteries required: 1 x Li-Ion (included). Manufacturer's 2 year guarantee. EAN: 8710103657835.

Very Good for Some, 31 July 2014

By far the most important advice that I can give about this product is to read all the information in triplicate before you even think of buying it. The reason for this warning is simple: if you have a certain hair type notably red or light blonde or if you born with a dark complexion, then this device is not suitable for you. The description of this product on the website is long ,but really should be read in full. The second key point is this is not a hair removal system as such and still requires the user to shave before use so do not assume you will be saving time in this way. Philips are focusing here on prevention the re-growth of hair by stopping it at the root using UV light in short bursts. The device which looks like a hairdryer is applied at a ninety degree angle with a green light flashing when the correct position has been adopted which then allows you to activate a flash of light by pressing a button. Nothing of course happens immediately and as you will already shaved...

Man O Man...Philips Lumea on stun..., 18 Oct. 2014

Yes I am a bloke and yes I did buy a pink hair removal system which looks like a phaser from Star Trek all be it with a longer grip. I am hoping my review helps guys who are thinking about going the laser hair removal way. It's the metrosexual way nowadays isn't it? If you have excessive hair all over or even just some parts of your body you would rather have hairless (no not those parts) then read on...

My history in hair removal...

Spending £300 on this I was hoping I had not made a mistake. Yes all if not one or two reviews on here have been from female users and most if not all have seen some positive results. Male hair tends to be thicker than our counterparts so I was very sceptical if this would do anything if at all. I passed the skin colour chart and my hair is black not red or white. In the past I have shaved or used a few different hair removal creams and even once had hot wax on my back. The hot wax did an ok job but I couldn't keep asking a family...

Pale hair took more time but definite results after 7 weeks- however grows back as soon as you stop, 18 Aug. 2014

Overall (including update considerations)

pros: much more pleasant than other options (shave, point and flash) painless (unless you don't dry yourself properly), will soften texture with slower/sparser growth in natural blondes and see reduction in growth in darker hair with prolonged use. Initial outlay to professional treatment is good value.

Cons: more time consuming than just shaving ( and you have to shave to do it), doesn't work on darker skin tones nor lightest hair, YOU MUST KEEP IT UP or it will grow back just as it was, battery only lasts for nearly 2 legs on full power and you can't use the unit whilst charging.

Again as with other reviewers here we are limited by a non-negotiable review time which is not adequate to fully review the product's long term effects but is useful for a consumer who may buy the product and experience the same in the first month then give up or soldier on- I will (and have see bottom) update as things continue...
