Cream of the crop, 18 Jun. 2014

Having been DE shaving for a few months now, I've been looking around for a post-shave moisturiser. Something that wouldn't leave a greasy residue, but that would leave my skin feeling softer after shaving and help to alleviate any razor burn.

I hadn't used Proraso products before but the number of highly positive reviews had always caught my eye and although this product is sold as a pre- and post-shave cream, I bought it solely as a post-shave product as I personally don't see the need for anything pre-shave, other than plenty of hot water and a good shaving soap or cream.

After shaving, I always use an alum block - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DPMMX96/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse off and apply the Proraso Pre- and Post-Shave Cream.

Excellent pre-shave cream - I occasionally suffered from razor burn, but not since using this cream. Well worth taking a bit of extra time to apply this and leave for 5-10 minutes before starting to shave. The scent is attractive, but very powerful at first - even a little eye-watering - but that soon dissipates as the oils evaporate.I also use the Proraso shaving soaps as they complement the pre-shave cream well - this is what I'm using at the moment: Proraso Shave Soap in Round Pot Sensitive - Nourish - Menthol + Derby Bluebird Rasierklingen Pack of 5

I noticed that some of the other reviewers have had some success with using this pre-shave cream for post-shave treatment too, so I gave it a go. I mix a little of the cream with a little water and that certainly does the trick; but check your face after a few minutes as sometimes a bit of white residue remains and only becomes apparent as it dries - easy enough to wipe off, though. E safety razors was a great move for me, 21 Jan. 2017

Switching from cartridge to traditional D.E safety razors was a great move for me. And after experimenting with lots of shaving creams and pre shave creams I have found non better than the Proraso range. I tend to have very sensitive skin so this product helps to contain razor burn by giving your face a nice lubrication before you apply your shaving cream.
