protector 3 just as good as mach 3, 22 July 2011

Before using Protector 3 by Wilkinson Sword Blades x 8 I was using Gillette Mach3 Turbo Refill Blades - 8 Pack but the price Gillete were charging was getting silly. So I tried these now they do take some getting used to, but once I got used to using them I think they are better than mach 3.I have also find that by wetting and careful tapping the razor against the side of the sink you are able to get the hairs that clog out of the razor making it last much much longer.So don't delay change to these as do you really need 5 blades?

Why 3 blades?, 7 May 2012

I have a Protector razor which I have used and been happy with for over 10 years. The cartridges for it used to have 2 blades, now Wilkinson have changed it to a 3 blade system and of course the price has gone up.

The Protector is a good razor, but no better with 3 blades and I don't find much improvement over the old 2 blade system. I wish they had left things alone!

Why people think that the more blades a razor has, the better it will shave is beyond me. 5 or more blades is just stupid! A waste of money and materials. Believe me I have been wet shaving for over 40 years and 2 blades is plenty - the first one cuts the hair but also pulls it out slightly and the second one cuts it a bit more before it retracts into the skin. So why have more than 2? To fool people into spending more.

No matter how close your shave (and a blade will only really shave close when it is brand new - after the first shave or two it starts to blunt) your stubble will grow...

Glad to have been able to obtain these blades as there are so many varieties on the market and could not find this in any local stores!
