Cheap and cheerful......, 6 Mar. 2013

I chose to buy this after watching the girl at the salon doing my nails over again and charging £25 each time. I would definitely recommend buying a cheap light along with the blue sky shellac colours, base and top coat (£5 each rather than £15 for cnd shellac brand!!!). I wasn't particularly delicate in my approach however the brushes are wide, and the varnish is thick and doesn't run like regular varnish. I found it exceptionally easy to apply! However less is more, so make sure you get all excess off your brush, 2 thin coats is better!!!

Used the lamp once so far on the day I got it. The uv system worked well on the shellac gel. However like many reviewers I also found the timer did not work and have to switch it off and on at the plug, but I have chosen to just use the timer on my phone. I have dropped marks for the timer issue, but it wouldn't stop me buying another.

Only time will tell if it will last but I'll probably just buy another cheap light rather than spend...

Great product for Shellac Nail Varnish, 21 Nov. 2011

I've had my nails done professionally a number of times - at between £10 - £15 a time, I figured it would make sense to get my own kit. I was not sure the Proxima 36W UV lamp would work, but after reading the reviews, I figured it would. And it did.

I have to admit to having minor panic when the first coat would not dry. I had my hand under the light for more than two minutes but no joy. So I grabbed my computer and reread the reviews. It then dawned on me that I never checked my nails while they are being done for me, and I did not know that they stayed tacky between each application! This was a bit of a revelation - I can only assume that it is part of the chemical process, so I proceeded: base coat, two layers of colour, top coat (with light treatment between each layer).

After the final coat and light treatment, I (very nervously, I admit) removed the final sticky layer with cottonwool soaked with ISOPROPANOL IPA Isopropyl Alcohol 99.9%; the result was...
