good quality and VFM, 25 Aug. 2013

In the box you get the hairbrush body, 2 brush attachments and a limited set of instructions.

I can't believe I am going to say this but, the instruction set could have been a little more comprehensive. Only in so much as maybe a few diagrams and descriptions. Although, to be fair, there is sufficient instruction and it becomes more clear when you start to use the brush or if you have experience with these stylers. For the novice like me it seemed a bit confusing when simply reading the instructions.

The body comes with a generous amount of lead (about 2m long) and the lead connects to the body by a free spinning swivel connector to prevent tangles and twisted leads. The swivel connector is much smoother than the GHDs I have, so I do not anticipate any problems with it. The body is lightweight with a chunky body giving a comfortable grip. The base houses the plastic collar that is used to power up and adjust heat/speed. This is a 2 hand operation and it moves...

ooh! big! bouncy! power hair!, 28 July 2013

So, I'm the girl who can just about use a hairdryer. For about 5 minutes. And sometimes I use a straightener. with gloves so I don't burn myself as I generally do. so when I saw this I thought "here's a chance to see how badly I can mess this up" because this is a tool for people who ACTUALLY know how to work with hair machinery.

But here's the thing. I went into this full of trepidation because I was convinced I was going to burn myself, my hair or pull all my hair out. and to add insult to injury I also have really ridiculously small hands... BUT...

This is a great tool! it's simple, easy to manoeuvre, great to work with and best of all? I, ME! was able to use it! I managed to make hardcore "Dynasty" level big hair curls (I was playing), I was able to get a gorgeous curl in there (it stayed), and it didn't feel like it was sucking my hair dry of all its moisture unlike the hair dryer and the straighteners.

I was scared of it but ended up really enjoying...

NOT for beginners!, 23 July 2013

I'm a big-brush styler convert. I currently use a simple manual big brush styler with ionic function and am very happy with it. But it's ailing a little now and I've been on the look out for a replacement before it breaks.

When the Remington arrived I had high hopes because it was even bigger and better than the brush styler I've been using. It comes with two heads (one huge and one pretty much standard size) and the quality of the brush heads is excellent: The ceramic brush base is very well made and the thick "bristles" are smooth with rounded edges. They felt very good against the scalp.

Unfortunately this is where the quality ends.

The first problem is that my fine hair is too fine to get a good purchase on the brush, so when using it to brush through the hair in preparation for bouffanting the base and curling the ends, there wasn't enough tension to lift at the root or straighten the lengths. My hair is wavy and I couldn't get the waves out...
