Flawed design from a leading razor manufacturer, 20 Mar. 2015

The basic concept of any razor is to cut the beard as close to the skin as possible. I'm afraid that the XF8700 fails in this respect.

I have not got a particularly heavy beard growth and have had problems with flat hairs in the past which I address with a final wipe of a Bic razor after using my old trusty Remington razor of many moons. This XF8700 looked the biz so I was disappointed to find that it did not give as close a shave as my old one.

On closer inspection, I noticed that it has three cutting heads. Strangely, the outside heads are designed for the lifting and initial cutting of long hairs. The single center foil head is the one for giving the "close" shave. I expected to get a twin foil head for a close shave and a single long hair lifter. The problem is compounded by the so called floating head which is supposed to follow the contours of the face. A good shave from a well designed shaver, 18 Mar. 2015

The feature count of this shaver is high - it's suitable for wet/dry shaving and 100% waterproof so you can wash it after use. In addition, the shaver can operate from 100V to 240V and the cleverly designed charging cradle folds around the shaver and acting as a travel lock to prevent it switching on in your luggage.

I usually wet shave every other day and sometimes use a three head electric shaver. This is the first time I have used a foil type shaver and I have to say I am quite impressed with it.The build quality is very good and it moves very much like a razor, tilting backward and forward. I don't miss the circular motion of my other shavers, this feels natural to me and gives a close enough shave. I've found it better than other electric shavers for shaving just below my jaw.I love the battery indicator - large red numbers which display exactly how many minutes of shaving are left. A full charge will provide 60 minutes of shaving. It's easy to wash which I like - it can be used wet/dry.This will now be top of my list when I'm not wet shaving.
