I wasn't too sure about an electric shaver as I haven't used one before being old school and having stuck with razors.

First impressions was that it came nicely packaged. Actually, considering that most packaging can be a real nuisance, the Remington arrived in a box and plastic wrapping which was simple to open.

The shaver comes with some charge, although you are advised to give it a charge before use. It has a travel pouch, adapter and a cleaning brush as well as a protective guard (which I think is a nifty device) for the heads.

The shape of the shaver means it fitted comfortably in my hand and the heads have a spring to them as the shaver glides along the facial outline. I've found it comfortable to shave. Considering I haven't used a shaver before, I was conscious that it might be rough on my skin after a few shaves. The Remington XR1350 Hyper Flex Plus charges very quickly (less than 90 minutes) and lasts a couple of weeks once fully charged. The LED charge-remaining indicator is very clear and gives a good indication of remaining charge. If you like a pop-up trimmer, this shaver has one that works well. The shaving head seems sturdy and has a shallow internal profile that makes cleaning easy.Shaving, however, is only mediocre. In parts it is very close and smooth, but the flexing head makes it difficult to apply even pressure, leaving a patchy shave. To get a uniformly close shave takes time, you have to keep revisiting missed areas of stubble. (I've also been using the cheaper Remington AQ7 Wet Tech Rotary; it feels more plasticky and lacks a decent charge indicator, but I feel that it gives a better shave.)

A good product, sensibly priced, 30 Jan. 2015

Bought this to replace an old foil shaver. I like the idea of the floating heads and they seem to do a good job. My beard is never long but I always had one or two longer hairs under my chin that were not removed by my old shaver. This one gets them every time.

I was a little dubious when I turned the shaver on for the first time. It is very quiet and seemed as if it would have no power, but it is actually very efficient and easy to use. It gives a fairly close shave and the trimmer is a useful feature which is easy to use. On the down side, I don't think it provides as close a shave as my old shaver, as I now shave every day rather than every other day. Also I personally find it a little more awkward to shave above my top lip with this rotary shaver compared to the foil. But overall it does a good job. It is comfy to grip and feels light in your hand
