When it comes to makeup..... I've tried so many brands. My favs range from L'oreal to Mac and considering that I think Rimmel has really stepped up it's game I think it's a definite contender for affordable but quality makeup.
I've read the reviews and I can see why people think that the pencils glide to quickly. But personally I think it allows you to blend really well. The trick really is to get a brush. Like any eyeshadow you wouldn't put it on with your finger, so I'm not sure why there is this misconception to apply and go.
I applied the black (Which I would say is more of a gunpowder black / dark grey) first. I started in the crease and blended. I then applied more and blended with a blending brush again. I then used the blue liner as the eyeliner. Also applying a small amount under the lower lash in the corner.

The liner part of this looks like a kids' crayon and goes on like a felt tip. I like the Cleopatra look, and this was pretty much perfect.
The shadow goes on equally easily, with very little rubbing or flaking, and the colours complemented each other beautifully.
To get more of each side, you just need to twist a little, and if you've twisted too much, you can reverse this and each side retracts. I can see this lasting a fair bit, especially as the product feels really solid and sturdy.
It lasts pretty well - I applied both at about 3pm and as I write this, some 7hrs later, both are looking as good as when I put...
