Rio Intense Pulse Light (IPL) Hair Remover

I have had this product since April 2010 and felt that I couldn't give a proper review of it until I had owned and used it for at least three months.

What is it?

After opening the box, I was pleased to see that the machine came with a DVD as well as a booklet explaining everything in detail. I opted for the book first as I prefer to make my own judgements before looking at overly smiley people looking like they would be better suited to The Price Is Right.

This machine uses the latest technology to remove hair on the body. It uses an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) that is sent directly to your hair follicles to destroy the root, effectively giving you permanent hair removal. Bought this about 2 months ago because I got so paraniod about facial hair. The product details stated it was ok to use on certain areas of the face (lip, chin and parts of the cheek), which was what I wanted. The details also state this is ok to use of underarms, bikini and legs too, so for me i've ended up with more for my money than anticipated.

The machine is easy to use, and was able to use it without using the DVD. The wand is a little large for use of on the face, so you have to make sure that you get all 4 contact sensors on the skin, which is clumsy if you are doing the lip. I've worked out the best way to do this for myself though.

Like I say, you can use this on other hairy areas too, but I would say that if you want to do legs, prepare to spend a good amount of time in any one session - the actual bulb/laser bit is quite small so it will take a while. I'm going to concentrate on other ares before using on legs I think. Perfect for underarms and Bikini...

Best product ever, 6 Aug. 2013

My wife purchased this product in 2010 this is her review. Hi having tried every hair removing product and gadget over a 40 + year period this was a last resort. It had been my birthday so decided to splash out on the Rio 8000 ipl having read reviews. I wanted to be hair free, no stubble, softer growth etc, hair gone. I have used this religiously for 3 years, gone through 3 bulbs, but can now say I am hair free. Any one buying this and hoping for a quick fix are going to be disappointed, you must persevere. I only wish this product had been available way back in the 70's.
