Good but buy your own gels and a decent bursh, 19 Jun. 2011

I bought this kit as i was sick of paying over £100 every time i wanted to get my hands and feet done, so in one application i guess its paid for itself.

The kit is quite easy to use, but i prefer to do overlays on my natural nails - my first try looked surprisingly good (i have uploaded some photos to this review - check out the brown hands, I only used the clear gel on natural nails here).

So they were smooth and not too thick, they gel self levels so it generally turns out quite even all over. I did 4 layers as that's what they do in the salon. They looked super shiny and lasted for about a week, after which time a few of them started to lift around the edges. However i think this could be because my gel went under the cuticle, they say you should leave a 1mm gap, so i guess that I will get better with some more practice and they should stay on longer.

I love having my nails looking nice, it makes me feel more mature and I hate my hands when there not done. I hate actually going to the salon, making the appointment and sitting for an hour bored out my mind. It costs £35 where I used to get them done. I have French gel overlays. I don't mean to complain but I literally hate going to have them done, not because there not friendly people or anything, I just feel uncomfortable there.I was looking through the beauty products. Bought this with a few reservations as it was quite pricey. But I worked out with a 2-3 applications then I would have made my money back. I don't have my nails done regularly as I find it too expensive. However, having seen how it is done and thinking I would probably be able to to do it myself I took the plunge and invested. I have never had any training but do like to experiment with nails/minx etc myself.

The kit is fully comprehensive and includes everything you need to do a complete set of tips and overlays. Having read a few reviews I opted for this one as it had a a strong 36W lamp. I am a firm believer of buy cheap buy twice. No problems with curing the gel at all using this lamp. I think that you would probably be able to buy all the individual items separately for a lot cheaper. I will probably invest in a better brush.
