Effective, economical - and slow!, 4 May 2012

Since I stopped being able to afford salon waxing, I've been using a combination of cold wax strips and razor. I've never been successful with spatula application, so the idea of a roller wax product appeals.

The holder is 20cm high; a comfortable shape and size for your hand. It sits in a small charger, where blue lights illuminate it while the wax warms ... this takes up to 40 minutes! You put it back in the charger between applications to keep the wax at the right temperature. The kit comes with three wax cartridges. They're all the same size, but two have a 5cm (2") roller while the third has a 2.5cm (1") roller for smaller areas. You get 100 thick paper strips. They were strong enough to re-use two or three times. The little bottle of cleaner was missing from my kit, but a quick wipe over with WD40 is the magic cure for waxy mess! Worked just fine.

The wax smells nice. It contains vanilla essence. I started with the small roller for my face, pits and bikini...

Worst afternoon I've spent in a long time., 20 Sept. 2012
I've tried home waxing kits before with little success - the heat up in the microwave type and wax strips. This is a very time consuming kit with no way of telling when your wax reaches the right temp/consistency. Then for amateurs the wax cools down far to quickly before you've got anywhere. Waxing is messy, time consuming and unless you know what you're doing a waste of time. I also found this kit more painful than epilating as your whole layer of skin is tugged rather than just the hairs. I'm sure it was in part my technique but it didn't give great hair removal and was difficult to use on the back of legs. You need to be a bit of a contortionist to apply and remove.I think the refills are too expensive to persevere with this.Only recommended if you are already very experienced in home waxing.

Went back to shaving..., 17 Oct. 2012
I had high hopes for this product, but it turned out to be more hassle than the results are worth. It takes too long to prepare, is too fiddly to use precisely, and doesn't get rid of all the hair. Add to this the fact of the sticky residue it leaves behind....it's simply not worth it. This kit is no better than many of the others available on the market, and frankly none of them is anywhere near as good as a professional salon waxing - not that I am willing to pay for that regularly, so I will be sticking to the old irritating razor. At least you know it's quick and guaranteed to work.
